Job purpose
An exciting opportunity has opened join our team of Account Managers within British Sugar’s Agriculture department. Relationship management is a key role for the team and in delivering the Commercial Agriculture strategic objectives, the role holder will develop and nurture strong long-lasting relationships with growers and their partners, signposting them to British Sugar’s suite of commercial services and offers, ensuring sugar beet adds value to their business model. This is a critically strategic role within our business in promoting sugar beet as a crop of choice.

Core Accountabilies

  • Manage and influence growers and industry partners within a defined area to deliver the objectives of British Sugar’s Agriculture Department
  • Accountable for a group of growers, role modelling strong account plans which support our collaborative goals
  • Work with growers in ensuring sugar beet fits within their business model
  • Fully understand the commercial offerings to growers
  • Drive commercial activity in support of the Agricultural strategy for example Grower Customer relationship, contracted crop area and yield development
  • Participate in idea generation of commercial offerings to sugar beet growers
  • Utilising grower insight, grower segmentation and Grower Relationship Management system to produce account plans to effectively manage allocated group of growers, understanding various grower’s business models being critical for success
  • Role modelling how working with growers to understand their business will identify opportunities to develop and deliver against commercial objectives and in turn create a long-term sustainable beet supply
  • Identify opportunities to add value to accounts and work closely with Agronomy to develop yield development plans
  • Work with industry partners to develop strong commercial relationships by utilising market intelligence and strategic departmental engagement plans
  • Responsible for LimeX sales to agreed targets, developing new LimeX opportunities.

Skills, Knowledge & Competencies

  • Commercially aware and focused on delivery of business objectives
  • Knowledge of wider Agricultural industry Strong relationship skills and ability to adapt style
  • Good negotiating and selling skills
  • Strategic thinking and perspective
  • Current driving licence – due to travel within role
