Midday Supervisory Assistant in Cwmaber Infants and Junior Schools


Salary: NJC Grade 1


Contract basis: Part Time, Term Time only, Fixed Term until 31st August 2026


The hours of work are Monday to Friday, 11:45pm – 1:00pm (1.25 hours per day).


The role will initially be based in the infants school, but some work in the juniors may be required.


The Governing Bodies of Cwmaber Infants & Junior Schools seeks to appoint a Midday Supervisory Assistant to ensure the safety and wellbeing of pupils during lunchtime breaks, in accordance with the practices and procedures of the school. A reliable and professional person is required for this demanding, but rewarding role within the school.


The midday supervisors are very much a part of the Cwmaber team and central to the school. The successful candidate will have a calm and positive manner with children and will assist in promoting positive behaviour.


The successful candidate will possess good communication skills and enjoy working with children. They will have a commitment to making lunchtimes a happy time and will be keen to engage pupils in play activities.


Duties include
To supervise children during the lunch break
To help children eating their school dinner or packed lunch
To supervise children in the playground
To supervise children in their classes during inclement weather
To play games and undertake activities with the children
To deal with minor accidents and injuries and administer some First Aid
To manage children’s behaviour positively
To maintain confidentiality
To safeguard all pupils
