Job Description

We have exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our Technical Team at Spalding Site on the Technical Apprenticeship Programme – Level 3 Food Technologist offering on the job learning and development! By completing this programme, you will gain wealth of experience and achieve Level 3 Diploma in Food Technology whilst earning competitive rate of pay!

The Role

The successful candidate will be committed to a career within the food manufacturing sector and looking to develop their career in our fast paced, innovative, global organisation. You will play a significant role in our business of delivering a range of superior quality pork products to the international marketplace and ensuring that that the highest standards of animal welfare are maintained throughout. You will be allocated a Mentor which will support you throughout the programme to gain a sound understanding of the technical function covering both:

  • Technical Coordinator Role
  • QA Role

As Technical Apprentice you will:

  • Assist with document control, create process records for data capture
  • Receive, administer, and investigate complaints with the assistance of stakeholders
  • Collate data to deliver trending information in clear formats
  • Complete internal and third party KPI reports
  • Prepare responses to customers and consumers
  • Support and play an active part in customer visits and third-party audits
  • Conduct internal audits
  • Assist with route cause investigations and reports
  • Assist with Raw material assurance - site-based elements which include:
    • Specification and raw material approval
    • Specification review
    • Specification upload on technical hub
    • Raw material risk assessment completion & updating
  • Comply with appropriate Health and Safety procedures and promote a strong awareness amongst all staff of a safe working environment.
  • Operate in accordance with all company policies & procedures
  • Provide cover for other roles in the team when required
  • Assist with filing / archiving
  • Conduct product inspections & temperature checks
  • Conduct internal sample swabbing & shelf-life sampling (as required)
  • Manage laboratory exceptions – organising retests and investigations
  • Support the implementation of any agreed departmental objectives & projects
  • Ensure a good working relationship with OV’s, meat inspectors and operational staff
  • Liaise & engage with other group sites & it’s projects as & if required

  • Good IT Skills – Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work well within the team and on your own

Qualifications [Accredited]

  • x6 GCSE grade 5 or above (or equivalent including maths and English)
