Underwriting Assistant

We have an opportunity for an Underwriting Assistant to join our Enterprise Risk Division. You will report into the Departmental Manager and will be responsible for supporting the Intellectual Property team to carry out all tasks relating to the underwriting and reinsurance of the Division in order to provide appropriate customer focused products and maximise profitability.

This role includes responsibilities such as underwriting, as well as assisting in the underwriting in accordance with the Head of Intellectual Property’s instructions in respect of premiums, terms and conditions which are set in order to secure the planned underwriting profits. You will ensure that the Divisions underwriting guidelines in terms of both line size and aggregate exposures are adhered to at all times and you will understand market cycles and trends to ensure maintenance of profit. The role also involves establishing and developing business relationships with the Division’s intermediaries, agents, and business partners in order to secure business portfolios for the Division that meet with the Business Plans, and which are effectively handled to reduce the risk of mal administration in the distribution process.

The successful candidate will be working towards ACII or will have a willingness to start, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office. You must also be up to date on industry developments within insurance and the appropriate area of expertise and you will also be fully aware of compliance and regulatory issues. The successful candidate will be a team player, providing support to other members of staff and will take ownership of customer issues when required to.
